Wines Of Merritt Rouge Syrah 2022
It's a blend of roughly 50% wild-fermented Rosabrook Syrah in old barrels and Wilyabrup Cabernet. This wine boasts a lifted and earthy character, with a mid-weight profile that's perfect for easy, enjoyable drinking. Nick, the maker, and Sarah, the master, craft small-batch, single-vineyard, low-intervention wines of texture and character from Margaret River, employing unconventional varieties and techniques. Their approach is gentle, steering clear of fining and filtering, and instead, they prioritize sensitivity to the wines' needs over imposing pre-existing recipes.
Now this is a little ripper. An exuberant purple-black hue for starters, it moves through some florals, spiced plums, aniseed and woodsy spices to a medium-bodied palate full of savoury delight.
