Vilmart Emotion 2014
Vilmart traces its history back to 1890 where it was founded by Desire Vilmart. Since 1989, his great-grandson, Laurent Champs, has been in charge of the estate, turning it into one of the finest grower-producers in the Montagne de Reims. The majority of Vilmart¿s 27 acres of vines lie in Rilly-la-Montagne. Vilmart is a member of Ampelos, an organisation that promotes organic and sustainable viticulture, and Champs hasn¿t used herbicides or chemical fertilisers since taking over the estate. All the wines are fermented and aged in oak of various sizes, and the wines never undergo malolactic fermentation. Peter Liem

Vilmart's 2014 Brut Rosé Emotion is laced with sweet dried cherry, dried herbs, blood orange and mint. It offers terrific breadth for the year, with the Pinot more in evidence than in the 2015 tasted alongside it (the blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay for both).
