The Togouchi Rum Cask Finish is a limited-edition blended Japanese whisky produced by the Sakurao Distillery in Hiroshima. Introduced as a special release, this expression marks a milestone for the brand as the first blended whisky in the Togouchi lineup to be bottled at a higher strength of 43% ABV.

True to the Togouchi signature style, the casks are aged in a unique environment—a cool, dark, repurposed railway tunnel located in the town of Akiota (formerly Togouchi), where the steady humidity and temperature give the spirit a exceptionally smooth texture.

The spirit is a blend of 15% malt whisky and 85% grain whisky made from unmalted barley. It is initially matured for two years in first- and second-fill ex-bourbon oak barrels. 

Following its initial aging, the whisky is transferred to Jamaican rum casks for an additional 18 months. 

The 18-month Jamaican rum cask finish heavily influences the final flavor profile, adding dessert-like richness and tropical elements to the delicate Japanese blend:Nose: Creamy vanilla, aromatic brown sugar, and pleasant sweetness.Palate: A round and creamy texture with distinct notes of custard, cream puffs, vanilla, and ripe banana.Finish: Harmonious and gentle, fading out with subtle oak wood notes and a lingering tropical fruit sweetness.
