Thibaud Boudignon Grey Anjou Blanc 2023
From 40 year-old vines, planted at 8000 vines/ha on shallow soils of grey schist and rhyolite. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts for 2-3 weeks, followed by maturation in 300L and 750L barrels (30% new) for 15-18 months.

A compact nose, reticent and tense - chalk, quartz, stony, glacial water and bosc pear but its nervy and coiled, requiring some coaxing and time to reveal more depth and complexity in the way of flint and toast with an innate purity. Texturally this is as pure as it gets, the shape and angles are all immediately pleasurable, dialed up in the mid with lemon balm, a mineral tenacity and a perfect tightrope of balance, showing weight without decadence and graceful finish of chalk and extract. This is what modern Chablis wishes it could look like! Delightful
