The Other Wine Co Sangiovese 2024
This wine screams Other Wine Co. - a vivacious, bright, early drinking red, with wild strawberry, juicy blue fruits and bright florals. There's perfume, bay leaf and spice, with firm tannins and fresh acidity. It's fermented as a combination of whole bunches and whole berries, spending two weeks on skins before being basket pressed to old oak and stainless steel. It was bottled young, which coupled with the cooler conditions of vintage 2024, mean it's retained brightness and lifted aromatics. We couldn't have asked for more of an inaugural release.
The inaugural release of this Sangiovese from Mount Lofty ranges, burst from the gates with kirsch, pomegranate juice and old-fashioned maraschino cherries. There is a cherry liquor and rose bud swirl with a towering film of dry tannins and crunchy punch of acidity. It’s Sangiovese after all. No muddy oak to distract from the purity and energy of fruit.
