Springbank 10 Year Old Local Barley 2025 700Ml
The Local Barley is an annual release made from barley grown in or around Campbeltown. Each year a local farmer is commissioned to grow barley to continue producing this ‘grain to glass’ limited edition.
Different farms, barley varieties, cask maturations and length of time the whisky spends in the casks from one batch to the next allow our customers a unique tasting experience every time.
Nose: Notes of fig rolls, date syrup, plums and star
anise kick off this year’s Local Barley.
Palate: A savoury element becomes more pronounced on the palate, with notes of burdock, shiitake mushrooms, tamari soy sauce and liquorice.
Finish: Notes of campfire ash and treacle molasses come to the forefront in the finish.
Proper oily texture. Hints of orange marmalade, white pepper and wet pebbles, but also coastal and/or saline notes. A touch of olive brine alongside gentle earthy peat and smoked tropical fruits such as guave. A tad farmy too... Forget my earlier mention of Longrow, as this is Springbank through and through. There’s not much to dislike here, if anything. Slightly austere, definitely old school and 100% quality stuff. - wordsofwhisky.com
