Seppeltsfield The Westing Barossa Shiraz 2020
The 2020 The Westing Single Vineyard Barossa Shiraz was fermented through the historic 1888 Gravity Cellar. Built into the hillside on a series of terraces, gravity guides the flow of fruit down through the winery to deliver gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. 'The Westing' was then matured for 14 months in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads.
The Westing is a full-bodied Shiraz in the classic Barossa style. Showing ripe and dark fruits, framed by robust tannins and balanced acidity.
2020 was an interesting vintage in the Barossa. Some very good wines produced some not so good, and as such not a vintage of uniform quality. Very purple, heaps of ferrous tannin, black fruit, a little bit of rose and herbs of Provence (incl lavender), tannin is woven and crisscrossed laying down a firm mat of texture, purple fruit, and a very bold finish. Inky and very strong. Fills all the corners. Excellent. 95 points. Gary Walsh-The Wine Front.
