Now under the stewardship of Robert Chevillon's sons Bertrand and Denis, these passionate pair of vignerons are tireless in their pursuit of the finest expression of Pinot Noir possible. After meticulous care in the vineyards across the year, grapes are hand harvested, sorted and de-stemmed before receiving a cold maceration in vats for 5-6 days and natural fermentation lasting 2-3 weeks. Maturation lasts from 15 to 18 months in a mix of 30% new and 70% second use barrels. Situated on the lower slopes at the northern end of Nuits village, Les Bousselots often produces softer and more approachable reds than is seen with the other premier cru Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyards. While the soil here is deep, Chevillon's plot contains old vines that retain good acidity and structure to support the richer flavours.

Here a more restrained nose is aromatically similar to the Chaignots if not quite as spicy. There is more power and punch to the intensely saline-suffused middleweight flavors that also conclude in a moderately austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. Bousselots always requires at least mid-term cellaring to show its best and the 2021 version will be no exception. Recommended. Drink through 2031+. 91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

The 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Bousselots offers up aromas of sweet red fruits, blackberries, spices, rose petals and bergamot, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and impressively concentrated palate that's a touch more muscular than the sensual Chaignots. 90-93 points William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Feb 01, 2023)

A fine glowing purple, the nose is strict yet with intensity, very promising. Plenty of punch, this is really quite concentrated, yet still with a liveliness. Will take some time but then will deliver a fine Nuits-St-Georges. Drink from 2026-2032. 91-93 points Jasper Morris MW - Inside Burgundy
