Robert Chevillon Nuits Saint Georges 1Er Les St Georges 2021
Domaine Chevillon-Chezeaux was created in 1887 by Eugène-François Chevillon, who inherited from his father Symphorien Chevillon some parcels of vines. He was succeeded by Eugene Chevillon and then in 1946 by his two sons, Georges and Maurice. In 1947, Domaine Georges Chevillon grew with the acquisition of Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Les St-Georges". In 2000, their granddaughter Claire and her husband Philippe Chezeaux her husband renamed the domaine Chevillon-Chezaux. The husband and wife are well connected. Claire is a cousin of the owners of Domaine Robert Chevillon and Philippe is the brother of Jerome from Domaine Jerome Chezeaux, who is also in our portfolio.
A darker fruit profile presents notes of plum, dark currant and plenty of earth and game wisps. There is both fine power and richness to the big-bodied if less refined flavors that display fine length on the robust and moderately rustic finale. This isn't as dense as it usually is but even so, there is no lack of size and weight. Patience again suggested as this is definitely built to repay extended keeping. Scents of red berries, dark chocolate, orange zest, sweet spices and loamy soil preface the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers, a medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated wine that's built around sweet, powdery tannins, and which concludes with a mouthwatering finish. The Pruliers often needs a lot of time, but this 2021 looks set to be unusually approachable, even if it also has the substance and structure to age. 91-93 points William Kelley - Wine Advocate
A full bright purple. I love this nose. On the lifted side of plums, nothing heavy here, and with a sumptuous raspberry seedless feel on the palate, the fruit runs easily, fluidly to the finish, fine tannins, no overt oakiness. Drink from 2027-2033. 92-94 points Jasper Morris MW - Inside Burgundy
