Now under the stewardship of Robert Chevillon's sons Bertrand and Denis, these passionate pair of vignerons are tireless in their pursuit of the finest expression of Pinot Noir possible. After meticulous care in the vineyards across the year, grapes are hand harvested, sorted and de-stemmed before receiving a cold maceration in vats for 5-6 days and natural fermentation lasting 2-3 weeks. Maturation lasts from 15 to 18 months in a mix of 30% new and 70% second use barrels. Situated on the lower slopes at the northern end of Nuits village, Les Bousselots often produces softer and more approachable reds than is seen with the other premier cru Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyards. While the soil here is deep, Chevillon's plot contains old vines that retain good acidity and structure to support the richer flavours.

Here the less expressive nose is not as spicy but actually more complex with its array of poached plum, black raspberry, smoke, earth and underbrush. The delicious, vibrant and beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by bright acidity on the firm, serious and youthfully austere finish that is even firmer. Rich concentrated dark black centre with a purple rim. Inkily concentrated. I like the flavours afterwards, bilberries and red fruits, but the concentration needs to dial down which it presumably will with extra elevage – which Bertrand is hoping to extend as late as possible. 89-91 points Jasper Morris MW - Inside Burgundy
