The Very Old Agricultural Rum JM Signature Cuvée 1998, signed Clos des Spiritueux, is an exceptional piece, bottled after 25 years of aging in cask and numbered No. 133 out of only 268 bottles. This treasure of agricultural rum comes from pure freshly pressed cane juice, grown at the foot of the legendary Montagne Pelée. It displays a deep amber robe with mahogany reflections, a testament to its long years of maturation under the tropical Martinique climate. Its captivating nose opens with an aromatic explosion of candied fruits, orange peels, dried mango, and plum. To this complex base are added refined notes of dark honey, vanilla, cocoa, and waxed wood, enhanced by a subtle rancio blending blond tobacco, roasted nuts, and a hint of coffee. 

On the palate, the Signature Cuvée 1998 reveals a sumptuous and silky texture. Its perfectly controlled strength of 40.6% favors elegance and subtlety of aromas, serving an intense tasting experience. The attack seduces with its suppleness and indulgence: candied fruits, ripe cane, and a touch of blond caramel delicately coat the palate. The mid-palate then evolves towards harmonious flavors of vanilla, toasted coconut, mild spices, and precious wood. A spicy filigree – cinnamon, nutmeg, white pepper – structures the tasting and brings freshness and depth to the whole. The sensation of warmth remains balanced, highlighting the persistence and precision of the aromas. The finish, long and elegant, extends the tasting with notes of dried fruits, cocoa, blond tobacco, and orange zest, offering a sensory experience of rare intensity.
