Praeter Eternal Rhythm Nebbiolo 2024

From the Kersbrook Vineyard at the northern end of the Adelaide Hills.  An east facing block planted with a low yielding clone of Nebbiolo that produces great concentration and extract.  

Grapes were 100% destemmed and transferred via gravity to an open fermenter where they undertook spontaneous alcoholic fermentation.  Only pump overs were used during the course of maceration, and the grapes stayed on skins for 18 days before being basket pressed and racked to seasoned large format oak for malolactic fermentation.  The wine stayed on fine lees for 10 months before being racked and bottled without fining and filtration.

Very delicate aromatics for this part of the hills! Again brambles and briary fruit, black jelly crystals, very well put together and of great persistence aromatically. The palate is a beautiful melange of sweet dark cherries, some lovely amaro like complexity and lovely open knit fanning tannins. The length here is very admirable, such a good example of showing the potential for Nebbiolo in multiple microclimates of the hills.

"This is very good. It’s well worth tracking down. It tastes of crushed rocks and crushed flowers, leather, redcurrant, aromatic herbs and something in the vicinity of fennel. The tannin here is assertive, gently dusty, and integrated, and the finish keeps going beyond the point where you thought it would end. Boxes, ticked, and plenty of them.
