Of the three traditional Champagne grape varieties, the Côte des Bar region strongly favours Pinot noir cultivation, followed by Chardonnay. The village of Celles-sur-Ource—where Champagne Pierre Gerbais is based—respects this trend, cropping Meunier at 2% of total production, making the family’s latest arrival of Bochot (a single-vineyard, 100% Meunier cuvée) a compelling singularity.

Planted by sélection massale (the traditional practice of vineyard propagation with exceptional old vines) in the lieu-dit (single parcel of vines) of Bochot, grapes are managed organically and vinified in stainless steel vats, undergoing malolactic fermentation and maturation on fine lees before ageing for 36 months sur latte (storing bottles on their side for secondary fermentation and maturation). With this lieu-dit vinified in isolation for the first time and complemented with perpetual reserve wine from 2016 to 2017, Bochot is available in very limited quantities: disgorged in April 2021 and finished with 3 g/L dosage, only 991 bottles were produced.
