Paralian Bowyer Ridge Chardonnay 2025
Single Vineyard Chardonnay, fruit sourced from ‘Bowyer Ridge Vineyard’, Adelaide Hills grown by the Rosback family.
Irrigated vines, on mica schist, North/South aspect 480-495m altitude. Sustainable Winegrowing Australia Certified Vineyard
Hand-picked fruit, whole bunch pressed, the free run only was drained and 100% fermented in French oak barrels (13% new oak), majority being larger 500L puncheons. Post ferment the wine was left on lees in barrel for partial malolactic fermentation while stirring regularly to build texture.
'Paralian Chardonnay is always a champion in the glass. This release, first sip through to the last, lays down the quality law. Grapefruit, white peach, shots of citrus, cedarwood and saline, almost oystery edges. It’s svelte, composed, complex and long; it’s an example of juiciness served with authority. There are both top notes and mid-palate notes here that I haven’t mentioned or yet named – maybe red apple skin, maybe chamomile, maybe whispers of milk and honeysuckle – but the effect and the impression is the same.
