From a single site in the Walcliffe subregion but further from the coast. Pressed as whole bunches into a selection of new, one and two year old puncheons with no settling or fining. 3 week spontaneous ferment in oak, remaining on gross lees unsulphured until September. Emptied from barrel, settled, filtered and bottled in December.
The 2024 Wilson Vineyard Chardonnay is piercing and salty, with white peach and lemon balm, green apple and honeydew melon. The acidity here really punctuates the palate, and it has a particularly precise, incisive, penetrating quality to it that is both salivating and moorish. This is really good. This comes from a hot year and a cool area (slightly south of Margaret River town), with good handling of the fruit and style parameters.
