This is from the Leura Park vineyard, at Curlewis. All the wine went in French oak, 30% of it new. I wouldn't go so far as to say that all sauvignon blanc should go into oak, that would be plainly ridiculous. But for me sauvignon blanc is at its best when it's been wood aged. Personal preference only.
Smoky wine. Textural wine. Complex wine. Gravel and thistles, understated tropical fruit, a keen woods-smokiness through the finish, almost into tobacco or indeed into hay. It's both an interesting wine and, simply, a good wine to drink. 93 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
