Michael Hall Eden Valley Syrah 2013 Museum Release
The Naimanya vineyard sits high in the Eden Valley at 520 meters altitude, on the south-west fringe of the tiny sub-region known as Flaxman's Valley. The soils are sandy loam, gravel and quartz over clay. Its altitude and soil structure allow a long, slow ripening season typically generating marked spice and floral characters.
A wine with a floral and exuberant purple fruited style that has deep plum and mulberry notes plus fine spice and pepper, a heap of graphite, and really fragrant stony elements too - it belies its place. The palate is neatly cut into shape with crisp, smooth and layered tannins that deliver ripe juicy dark plum and red fruit flavour. The fruit shines bright through the finish, and the tannins run straight, deep and long. Best around 2020." - 98/100, James Suckling
