Luigi Oddero Barolo Classico 2018
Luigi Oddero passed in 2010 - with his estate under the control of his Wife Lena and son, and guidance from two of the finest oenological individuals in Piedmont - in Francesco Versio (ex Bruno Giacosa) and Dante Scaglione who still consults to Bruno Giacosa.
The family oversee 32 hectare of vineyards in the split from Oddero - including Rocche Rivera a small subsection of Scarrone in Castiglione Falletto and Vigna Rionda in Serralunga d'Alba.
The Classico Barolo is a blend of 30% La Morra, 30% Castiglione and 40% Serralunga d'Alba
Rose, red berry, tilled earth and mint aromas emerge from the glass. The linear, elegantly structured palate features sour cherry, pomegranate, star anise and the same hazelnut note from the nose. Polished tannins and fresh acidity provide support. 94 points. Kerin O'Keefe
