To summarise, some excellent rains early, good, cool start to the season, nice warm (though not extreme) summer, and then a warm September and October bringing ripeness quickly. Prüm’s month-long harvest started mid-September and finished with the picking of some botrytis effected fruit before the mid-October rains arrived. Although the overall season wasn’t one marked by extremes, the end-of-harvest date of October 11th serves to remind us of the new era of climate change. It marks the earliest finish to a harvest at J.J. Prüm ever. Regardless of season, this is a grower so in tune with its vineyards that, come rain or shine, it never misses a beat.
