Jasper Hill Georgias Paddock Nebbiolo 2022
Georgia’s Paddock contains one hectare of low-yielding Nebbiolo, planted in 1993 on their own roots at an altitude of 320 meters. The dry-grown vines here have to rely on natural rainfall only, producing fruit with the immense concentration that the winery is known for. Vibrant crimson hue, an intense floral aroma featuring violet and rose, concluding with a red berry note. The wine starts with a gentle front-palate presence, gradually building to a surprisingly long finish. It reveals flavors of cherries, aniseed, and a hint of charred oak.
Dark ruby red in the glass. Cherry, cola and crushed violet aromatics. Palate is full with a ripe black fruit note that is bound with motor oil savoury and eucalypt undertones. Good length and prodigious tannins framing it. A big wine that needs time. Drink 2026-2038. Stuart Knox, The Real Review
