A throwback to the Henschke labels of old - this is a limited run for their 70th Anniversary of the famed Mount Edelstone which was first released as a single vineyard Shiraz with the 1952 vintage.

100% 110 year-old single-vineyard Shiraz grown on the Henschke Mount Edelstone Vineyard in the Eden Valley wine region, managed with organic and biodynamic practices. Matured in 8% new and 92% seasoned French oak hogsheads for 20 months prior to blending and bottling.

There’s a cool aromatic freshness to this vintage of Mount Edelstone. It’s a lifted wine. Roasted nut characters weave through florals and fruit. This wine is in impeccable shape. It’s all boysenberries and plums and sweet spices and sage and crushed this and that. You see some raw oak at this early stage but even so it’s beautifully integrated. Fruit here is pristine. Brightness is beautiful. My notes say that this 2022 is “as good as the 2005 and 2006 releases, and in a similar mould.” The 2005 and 2006 releases are stand-outs so this wine is right up there.
