Golden Child Kuitpo Syrah 2022
This wine is made by winemaker James Hamilton, using Syrah grapes grown by his father, David, in Kuitpo, Adelaide Hills. The wine is crafted using traditional methods, including hand-picking, wild yeast fermentation in French oak barrels, and aging on lees for complexity. The wine is known for its stylish, accessible, and appealing characteristics.
On the nose, the Kuitpo Merlot presents a rich array of aromas, including ripe black cherries, plums, and hints of dark chocolate. There are also subtle herbal notes and a touch of earthiness that add complexity to the aromatic profile. The palate is smooth and well-rounded, with vibrant flavours of dark fruits, complemented by soft tannins and a fresh acidity. This Merlot showcases a balance of fruitiness and subtle oak aging, resulting in a wine that is both approachable and sophisticated. The finish is elegant, with lingering notes of blackberry and a hint of spice.
