Giaconda Nantua Shiraz 2022
For the 2021 and 2022 vintages the Shiraz is a blend of Estate Vineyard plus Warner Vineyard fruit made in a combination of small oak barrels, large Boti cask and Amphorae. This is a very rich and complex wine, certainly among the best ever produced at Giaconda.
Bright red cherry and roasted beetroot compete with exotic spices of white pepper, cinnamon, and sandalwood. There is a hint of briar and stem influence with damp undergrowth notes adding to an evolving bouquet. The palate is soft and creamy. A mid-weight wine with fine tannins and a cleansing acid spine ensuring freshness. It's one of those wines that clearly falls into the camp of shiraz but wanting to masquerade as a pinot. Delightfully quaffable.
