Gentle Folk Scary Gully Pinot Noir 2025
The Pinot noir at Scary Gully is one of the highest and oldest in the Adelaide Hills and sits upon a ridge of sandstone and quartz. It has not been irrigated for 12 years and with the bony nature of the soils the wine produced is usually more structured, darker, mineral and spicier than the other sites. This vintage is no different and there is a generosity of dark fruit and brambles on the nose with the usual spice but the pallet looks so balanced at this young stage.

Vinification: 20% whole cluster open top fermentation for two to three weeks followed by 9 months in oak, 20% new, before racking to tank for three months and bottled.

Immediately darker than Monomeith, carrying a little reduction, this has pops of fresh leather, cassis, cocoa powder and pools of deeper, brooding brambles. Lithe and tensile through the mid, this is a sinewy powerhouse - coiled all the way till the finish where it unfurls, fanning across the finish with a powdery sweet cocoa dust finish. Exceptional wine from a warm vintage!
