Gentle Folk Monomeith Pinot Noir 2025

Monomeith is one of the great vineyards of the Adelaide Hills and it sits in its own very cool valley on the top ridge of Ashton. Part of the vineyard gets the morning sun and the other half the afternoon sun. There is also a mixture of carefully selected clones. All these factors have resulted in a vineyard that produces a wine with great depth, complexity and all the classic aromatics of great Pinot noir – forest floor, bramble – and will keep you smelling the glass all night

Soil: Light loamy clay over sandstone with extensive quartz

Vinification: 20% whole cluster open top fermentation for three weeks followed by 9 months in oak, 20% new, before racking to tank for two months and bottled.

Classic Monomeith here with blood plum, baking spice, sous bois, white pepper, a distinctively brambly fruit profile - exotic in it's lift and intensity aromatically. I love how across the board the 2025s have been managed on the palate too, it's a hard Pinot Noir vintage, but there's such a delicate touch here that encapsulates that Pinosity you don't always get in the hills. Swathes of generous and supple textures, oscillate above this vibrant acid line, and finish with a chalkiness, subtle spice and a lovely savoury ferric note. Excellent.
