Gaja Barolo Dagromis 2019
First produced in 1998, this is a vendemmia blend of fruit sourced from two single vineyards - one in Serralunga d'Alba in the South East of Barolo and the other in La Morra in the North West of Barolo. Two drastically different sub-regions and soil types providing beautifully lifted aromatics (Sandy soils of Lar Morra) and powerful structure and drive (heavier clay soils of Serralunga d'Alba).
Each sub-region is fermented, macerated and aged separately in oak for 12 months. They are then blended and further aged in oak for another 18 months.
"2019 Dagromis has a garnet color with violet highlights. On the nose, this wine showcases floral and fruity notes of violet, cherry, plum, sweet licorice, ginger, and marzipan. On the palate, delicate showing jucy, cherry-like mouthfeel leads to a savory, yet sweet entry with a subtle tannin structure all characteristics of the vintage. This is a classic Barolo with great aging potential." Wilson Daniels
