The Thomson family's connection to Scotch whisky dates back to 1772 and spans nine generations. From the original Old Perth blend created by Peter Thomson to the exceptional casks quietly laid down by Michael Thomson decades ago, the family's history has always been shaped by patience and stewardship.
Today, Finn Thomson continues that tradition, bottling remarkable single casks only when they have reached what he believes is their perfect moment.
This exceptional single cask from Finn Thomson Whisky explores a different side of a very familiar character.
Distilled in 2010 and matured for 15 years, this Caol Ila was finished in an Amarone cask, introducing additional layers of depth and complexity while allowing the distillery’s signature coastal smoke and character to remain at the forefront.
The result is a carefully balanced expression where Islay’s traditional smoky character meets the influence of Italian wine maturation. Bottled at 58.0% ABV, this single cask captures the philosophy at the heart of Finn Thomson Whisky: selecting exceptional spirit and allowing time and wood to reveal something unique.
