Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch B523 was distilled and matured for 12 years at Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. It was bottled at barrel proof and released in May 2023.
2023 is the eleventh year for the brand’s popular cask-strength line.
Each batch of Barrel Proof contains an uncut selection of 12 Year Old Bourbon bottled straight from the barrel. As a result, each batch varies by proof. The batch number on the label provides specific information about each batch. The first letter indicates the order of the release for that year, starting with "A.” The first number represents the month of the release. The third and fourth digits indicate the year.
Caramel with toasted oak, fruit notes of apple and orange on the nose, rich vanilla bean, caramel, and butterscotch on the palate developing to black pepper & cinnamon. Nicely layered, very lengthy finish.
