Domaine des Croix Grand Cru Corton Les Greves 2020
Situated mid-slope on the hill of Corton with an ideal, south-easterly exposition, Les Grèves is one of Corton’s finest red terroirs. The soils are reddish clay, peppered with a type of Jurassic limestone known here as Ladoix (after the nearby village), as well as some flint. Domaine des Croix purchased a 0.55-hectare parcel of 1960-planted vines in 2009 and has farmed them organically since that time. Again, in 2020 there were plenty of whole bunches used (40%), lending vibrant freshness to an otherwise deep and concentrated Burgundy. Extremely smart buying for those searching for a great Grand Cru at a more than reasonable price.
