Blessed with small parcels in the best vineyards of Volnay and Pommard, Thierry has set about a gradual process of refining and perfecting how his vines are managed, and guiding the wines through vinification with a delicate touch.

There's only one barrel of the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets, but it's one of the high points of the range, soaring from the glass with notes of peonies, orange rind, wild berries and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, layered and ethereal, it's long and mineral, with bright acids and a saline finish. 92-94+ points William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

With the 50% whole bunch fruit, the 2019 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has one of the most captivating bouquets from Glantenay with red cherries, redcurrant and rose petal aromas, very harmonious and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins and a well judged bead of acidity. This is very expressive of its terroir and having tasted Lafarge’s own Caillerets on the preceding visit, I would say this is almost as good.
