Delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso Don Peppino 2021
Named after the farmer who was so compelled by the grapes it produced that he cultivated this vineyard with much care for over 70 years before it came into Marco’s possession. This vineyard is contained within the Contrada Calderara Sottana and sits on ancient volcanic ‘ellittico’ soils around 70,000 years of age. The vineyard contains vines that avoided the ravages of phylloxera and are more than 140 years old. The vineyard sits at 620 metres. This is a supremely complex wine with intensity, concentration, balance and elegance.
Minimal intervention or Lo-fi wines encapsulate those producers who keep additions and manipulations to a minimum during the winemaking process. This means the wines are wild fermented, unfiltered and unfined, and only add sulfur during the process.
