Comtesse de Cherisey Meursault La Genelotte Monopole 2019
Laurent Martelet labelled his wines 'Comtesse de Cherissey' in honour of his wife Helene's mother, who inherited their vines and passed them on to Helene. Today, the sixth generation continues the passion for their vineyards, where Laurent and Helene apply organic farming approaches using sustainability as their core value. At the end of the season, the fruits are hand-harvested, there is rigorous grape sorting before the crush, and the wines are unfined and unfiltered. The whites are pressed directly after spontaneous fermentation and matured in 228 litres oak barrels from wood grown in Blagny. On the other hand, the reds are partially de-stemmed and fermented in stainless-steel tanks before ageing for eighteen months in barrels. Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru 'La Genelotte' is the pride of the family, located at the top of the hill after Puligny-Montrachet. It covers 3.5 hectares of vines planted between 1946 and 1955 on clay and limestone.
