Chateau De La Tour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2020"The 2020 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of wild berries and plums mingled with orange rind, raw cocoa and exotic spices. Full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids and powdery tannins, it's seamless and elegant, its depth and plenitude of fruit harmoniously balanced by the wine's structural elements. My most recent visit to the Château de la Tour was once again the occasion for an exceedingly persuasive tasting with father François Labet and son Edouard, who together continue to push Domaine Pierre Labet and the Château de la Tour to new qualitative heights. As I've written before, organic and now biodynamic farming in the vineyards, vinification with—in red—appreciable percentages of whole clusters in the winery and long élevage in the cellars are the order of the day. The 2020 vintage at this address is an unqualified success, and everything reviewed here comes warmly recommended."
