Brokenwood Wade Block 2 Shiraz 2021
The 21st bottling of the Wade Block 2 from McLaren Flat. Grown in deep sand, this is an amazing vineyard nearing 30 years of age. It is planted with cuttings sourced from a very old local vineyard and grown on its own roots. Again, very distinctive and complex, easily qualifying it for the ‘Single Vineyard’ label. An outstanding season in McLaren Vale, with a return to average yields following several drought seasons. Average rainfall throughout the growing season with an ideal ripening period resulted in near-perfect Shiraz at harvest. Wonderful ripe fruit characters balanced by fine, long tannins. Oak maturation 100% French oak puncheons for 16 months.
A perfect McLaren Vale Shiraz colour with deep purple hues. Typical McLaren Vale flavours of abundant black fruit, dark chocolate and Turkish Delight. A full-bodied wine with mouthcoating tannins and a vanilla note from the fine French oak. A long finish with layers of flavour.
