What a wonderful winery and vineyards Balgownie is.
Classic styling, lively and taut in feel, medium bodied, dense in dark berry and cassis fruit character, bergamot tea notes, a touch of clove, some liquorice, a bit of earthiness and all of that bound in a network of pixilated, graphite tannin. A minerally feel through the wine too, perhaps some savoury, nutty notes too, but seamless in everything and finishes exceptionally long with squeakiness and refreshing acidity.
