Antoine farms a good plot of vines here that are close to 40 years old. It’s just under a hectare, right on the border with Pommard. There is plenty of clay, and the wine is often layered and hedonistic. The 2021 is no exception, a wonderful seductive red that nonetheless has the structure to age.

"The 2021 Beaune Epenottes 1er Cru offers dark plum and mulberry scents on the tertiary nose, well-defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite "solid" and old school with dried herbs and black pepper on the finish. Fine." 88 points, Neal Martin, Vinous+
