Strathearn distillery began operations in 2013, but was subsequently acquired by Douglas Laing \u0026amp; Co in 2019, who shifted the focus away from experimental wood maturation, but retained the previous owner's appreciation for using older, less commercial barley varieties, such as Maris Otter.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis first release since Douglas Laings acquisition has been dubbed 'the Inaugural' Strathearn release was made from 100% Maris Otter barley, matured in 32 oak casks (a mix of ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and virgin oak) for between 6 and 8 years, bottled at 50% ABV.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnticipate a rich malted barley depth with gentle oak on the nose. The mouth-coating, syrupy palate brings honey and buttercream with baking spice and dried apricots.
