Jean Marc Pillot Chassagne Montrachet 2022
After training at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune and completing his military service, Jean- Marc joined his father, Jean Pillot, in 1985, making his first vintage in new premises in the industrial zone close to Chagny in 1991. He has increased his domaine since then from five hectares to 11 hectares. Jean-Marc’s son Antonin has now joined the business.
Mid lemon yellow. Chunky after the refinement of the Puligny. Very concentrated though, in quite a different shape. Needs more elevage for this to open out but the finish shows promise. Here too there is plenty of petrol character suffusing the ripe and equally fresh aromas of rosemary oil, essence of pear and lemon rind. The generously proportioned and nicely vibrant medium weight flavors also conclude in a clean, dry and mildly rustic finale that is equally firm so some patience is in order. BURGHOUND
A wider nose, a hint of nut and minerality. More saline and an extra complexity and energy combined. Another wine with impressive finishing intensity – lovely finishing and less sweet than the Puligny – it’s finer – this is excellent. BILL NANSON, Burgundy Report
