Only years later did the vines’ roots reach ancient slate bedrock beneath; a possible explanation for the minerality evident in recent releases. Quite juicy, but there’s also a light chalky grip here, white pepper and apple cucumber coolness, lime rind, a little quinine bite and perfume on a finish of excellent length. Tension meets an approachable juiciness. It's redolent of all the citrus fruits, from yellow to green to orange, with green apple and blackcurrant leaf. The flavours are similarly set, with a chalky minerality chiming in. Deliciousness abounds. All of this with a quiet power, a grace, and exceptional length. In essence, it delivers on the promise of quality while nailing down drinkability.
